Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)

What is FOIA?

The Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) provides every person the right to inspect and copy public records held by government bodies. The Village of Danvers is committed to transparency and complying with FOIA requirements.

FOIA requests allow residents and members of the public to request access to records such as meeting minutes, ordinances, financial documents, contracts, correspondence, and other public records maintained by the Village.

How to Submit a FOIA Request

Freedom of Information Act requests may be submitted in writing to the Village Clerk. Requests may be delivered to Village Hall, mailed, or emailed. Please contact Village Hall to confirm the current FOIA officer and preferred submission method.
