BOIL WATER HAS BEEN LIFTED

These wipes cause damage to our aerator motors which can cost around $4k – $6 to replace each (we have 3).

Wipes and other non-flushable materials get clogged in these motors and they are not easy to remove.

This process requires 2 people and takes about 4 hours to complete. They disconnect power, unhook the system, drag it to shore, use the tractor to pull it out of pond and place it on bank, disconnect motor from float, then they have access to the clogged-up area and use knives to cut the wipes off the motor. After that, they must replace the motor in the float, then place it back in the pond and drag it to the proper location and reconnect everything.

The pictures show the volume of wipes and other non-flushable materials our public works employees cut out of one motor. This is a 55-gallon garbage bag almost full of these materials.
